Let’s get ready to rumble was the message from Audi Azzurra Sailing Team navigator Vasco Vascotto ahead of the second day of racing in the Royal Cup at Palma, Mallorca on Thursday.
Vascotto said his Italian team will be searching for improvements in Palma Bay today after finishing second and third in the opening day’s racing on Wednesday to sit third on the overall regatta rankings. “We’re quite happy, we didn’t lose too many points, but we are waiting for better moments,’’ Vascotto said. Defending champions Quantum Racing are leading the Royal Cup on three points after finishing first and second, while Rán Racing are second with four points after holding nerve in the second race to win and posting a third in race one.
With so few points separating the top three Vascotto is confident his team, who are positioned second on the overall 52 Super Series, can improve their rank. “We are very confident, no worries at all, and we are ready to fight,’’ said Vascotto, a world champion in multiple classes.
